quadrapus

just finished up a great weekend celebrating dr. wintermute's birthday. mcgruber and the cheese drove up from c'ville. friday night included hitting haandi (our favorite indian restaurant) in bethesda and then rock band 2. saturday we went to the first birthday party of the daughter of one of dr. w's close friends at work. in the evening, we gathered a crew to go to the spy museum's 'operation spy at night' game. a lot of fun--and i even got to use my disguise. we've been to the spy museum a few times, but this was the first time we did the interactive game. they actually made it a lot of fun--good plot, the museum employee who was our mission leader was really into character, and the sets were great. i wish there had been some more puzzles to solve, but that otherwise i would give it two thumbs up.

afterwards, we went to sonomo. great place, but equally memorable was the cab ride there from chinatown to south of the capital. riding down pennsylvania avenue, then turning right on 2nd avenue puts us on a dark street with the capitol steps lit up on our left and the monument in the far distance to our right. hanging a left on to independence avenue took us up between the capital, the library of congress, and the sam rayburn office buildings. the white marble, columns, and sheer scale is impressive. dr. w and i got a repeat performance when we had to drive back to the restaurant tonight to retrieve the credit card that i had forgotten there. kind of a pain, but the ride more than made up for it.

sunday morning we tried out the new wii fit that dr. got from her rents as birthday gift. turns out that i have really shitty balance. my 'wii fit age' is 45, and it asked me if i sometimes trip when i'm walking.

when grubes and the cheese arrived, their doggie, roxy, was sporting her favorite chew toy, a purple octopus. roxy is quite a chewer, and since getting the toy for christmas, she has dismembered the octopus down to four limbs, thus rendering it a quadrapus. by the end of the weekend, i believe all tentacles were gone. not sure what you call it, but now it's just a bulbous head.
