world cup

the countdown to the world cup is in full steam. while i should be readying the house for the kiddo's arrival, i'm really spending more time following the world cup. usa-england on the 12th should be great. we're having a grill out that afternoon with friends and neighbors.

the us squad is looking good. decent win over turkey, and the 4-2 loss to the czech republish is irrelevant--we were fielding the B-squad.

if we can shut down rooney, we'll be in good shape.

and we can't look past algeria and slovenia. both teams have nothing to lose--the most dangerous kind of team.

italy looks good. brazil will be dangerous of course. spain is the team to beat by consensus. argentina could be the dark horse, with coach maradona leading the team to a return to glory. and maybe france will rise again, too. germany without their captain? forget about it.

my 2010 us jersey is ordered off amazon and on the way.
