j-dub's wedding

well, just about to start vacation. cranking out some work out tonight, and then dr. wintermute and i are headed to sarasota for a wedding.

"what? a wedding before christmas?" you may ask.

yup. a wedding before christmas.

however, this is my little brother from my fraternity, and i'm in the wedding, so there was no way we could miss it. we're going to have a great crew: lo-mein, spoons, captain caveman, brown sugar, plus joe (of moe & joe fame). lo-mein is bringing his fiance, which is a phrase i never thought i would hear. i asked him (along with the rest of the wedding party) if she was:
  1. paraplegic
  2. blind
  3. a blow up doll
  4. a paraplegic, blind blow up doll
turns out that she is real.

headed to the airport at 6:15 am. fun.

on saturday, i'm hanging out on the golf course. not playing golf. but hanging out. i maintain that since golf is for old, rich, white guys, and since i'm none of those, it will have to wait 20 years, for me to have my own company, or to get michael jackson disease. who knows, maybe all three of those things will happen.

headed to the nati on sunday night. a week at home. my bro will be there.

lots of skyline chili and home cooking.

and maybe even a trip to the good old village tavern.

meeting maddie

last week i got to meet the beav's new (well, only) daughter, maddie. we got lunch at taqueria del sol (don't tell dr. wintermute!). i actually hadn't seen the beav since her little munchkin showed up, though thanks to her great blog, i feel like i know a lot about this adorable baby.

check out her photo album. i guarantee you'll love her!

rise, darth vader

need i say more?

more halloween pics to come. i know. long overdue.

pre-holiday party

dr. wintermute and i held our first neighborhood gathering (distinct from our halloween party, which was free for all) on friday night. i have to say that first, luck was with me. i left alphacrappa late (rolled out of the parking lot at 11:40, trying to catch a 1:20 flight). mudderbeetch. the only way i can get all the way to hartsfield on time is if there is zero, and i mean zero traffic.

in atlanta.

on a friday.

through the downtown connector.

amazingly, there is no traffic at the perimeter. or the downtown connector. or at the airport.

drop off the rental car and even have time to pick up some lunch before strolling on to the plane.

we have six sets of our neighbors over for drinks and dessert. dr. wintermute baked a 71 layer cake that required five days to prepare (no kidding, she started it on monday night) and it was out of sight. we also had a fantastic whiskey and cranberry lemonade (was supposed to be blood orange juice, but no store carried it) with orange wedge and granulated sugar in a high ball glass. proved so popular that dr. w spent the first 30 minutes serving them up.

we met two sets of neighbors for the first time. we have a nice little range of diversity, which is nice.

nightcap was getting pizza in awesome town.

space ghost coast to coast

this week is an iron man. left dc this morning for a cross country flight to los angeles. sales meeting this afternoon, and am now back at lax for the red eye. get to ny (via atlanta--couldn't even get a direct flight--mudderbeetch) at 9 in the morning. day in ny, and then fly back across the country to lax, landing at 11 pm (2 am body time) tuesday night. rest of the week in california, then flight back to dc friday afternoon.

almost 8,000 miles in a week. easily a record for me.

some co-workers offered some, uhh, sleep aids. however, the last time i took one on a red eye, it left me miserable the next day. i'd rather be tired than sick.

i might even have to drink caffeine this week.
