trivia

hit trivia at mcginty's last night. came in 6th place out of 23 teams, not bad for a team of two. we scored 73 points, which normally earns better than 6th. typically takes 80 points to win, and north of 74 points is usually good to place or show.

we did get all 20 points in the final round, which was 80s name that tune, also known as the dr. wintermute round. we turned in the answer sheet three seconds after the last song was playing.

i'm also proud that we named six of the seven saturday night live alumni who have won oscars.

headed to c'ville this weekend to celebrate the cheese's birthday...and to see the time traveler's wife. please don't disappoint me. it's one of the greatest modern love stories and tragedies.

in other news, episode v was on spike tonight, which made running on the treadmill much more fun than normal. since i didn't have earplugs and there's no speakers on the tv at the gym, i had to fill in all of the dialogue myself. a fun challenge. i'd say i had about 80% of it down cold. without realizing it, i think i was mouthing the words along as well. the chick on the next treadmill over looked at me like i was a complete freak.

paris

ma cherie, in paris

Paris was wonderful.

where do i start?

well first, let me share the good stuff: here are the pics.

i'll bore you with my rambling later, but for now, highlight shots

walking along the seine, minutes from our apartment

notre dame--world's oldest stained glass window

inside the glass pyramid at the louvre

yeah, we saw the mona lisa there, but medusa's raft is much more compelling

as is the wedding feast

venus de milo was pretty sweet, too

and then on to the musee d'orsay, an amazing museum housed in an old train depot, to see the impressionists (and post-impressionists)

and stand inside this huge clock

you may have heard of this guy

or recognize some of his work

the hall of mirrors at versaille

louis xiv did some minor landscaping

the arc

the tower, lit up at night
