breakfast at gasparyan's
greetings from gasparyan's house, where i'm staying this week while i'm in atlanta for work.
gasparyan and i shared a place in 2009 in nashville while we were both there for different assignments. i loved nashville because i could buy my favorite cereal there.
one weekend, mrs. gasparyan came up to visit, tried the cereal, and loved it so much that she asked gasparyan to buy it and bring it home. turns out that it is not sold in atlanta either.she's hooked.
bloodninja bought an ipad (he would buy a 3rd testicle if steve jobs marketed it). it was pretty sweet, i have to admit. and apple's net income for the previous quarter was up 90% BEFORE ipad sales had really hit their pipe.
wow.
i don't see it as a workstation, i.e., it won't replace the laptop. however, it is the first real portable electronic way to read, get the news, etc. i foresee a day where a family sits at the table for breakfast and each person has one in their hands, instead of the days where they had a newspaper in hand.
big weekend. greetings from atlanta. i'm here for work, and dr. w arrives tomorrow night to hang with j-watt. she's on the same flight as the chief. he, bloodninja, and about 25 others are coming for a fraternity reunion, chi phi style. chief, bloodninja and me are staying with mcgru.ber in his one bedroom, one bath condo. three air mattresses. should be sweet.
recruiting dinner tomorrow night, then i pick up dr. wintermute and the chief at hartsfield 9:30. we will digging in at the little five points vortex by 10:30, hopefully.
friday, after interviewing students at the alma mater (i'm hiring an intern! hope they've seen the kramerica espisode), dr. w and i are catching up with dr. b (my college advisor and the officiant at our wedding).
friday night at manuel's tavern, then neighbors.
saturday bbq at the house, some pre-game at the georgian terrace, then food and debauchery in midtown.
the cheese and broseephus are at our house right now, hanging out before heading to chicago for a family wedding.
greetings from dr. wintermute's office. i'm working from here today so i can ride the free shuttle to bwi, saving me an $85 cab ride (or dr. w 2+ hours of rush hour traffic on a friday afternoon). i'm headed to new orleans today for anakin's bachelor party. should be a great weekend. my brother and mpg (and anakin) got in last night, and hank, shan de la shan, other cousins and friends arrive today.
looking forward to good food and a little bit of debauchery. whenever we get together as a group we immediately revert to our roles and personalities from when we were eight years old.
should be fun.
i don't have a recent picture of all of us, so here's a shot from my wedding, with various spouses and significant others.
man, i'm behind on posts. a few weekends ago dr. w and I went down to florida to celebrate her parents' 40th wedding anniversary (which was actually back in december). we got them a seaside cottage for a night as a gift, and we stayed at the inn a block away. seaside, which is about 45 minutes from where the live, is the town where they filmed the truman show. although it was a bit colder than we expected, just getting to sit on the beach, have lots of great seafood, and ride bikes around town was great. some pics:
dr. wintermute and her rents
the view from the cottage
doing what i do best...the hammock was calling my name
does it get better than this?
i liked the no tell motel sign made entirely out of license plates
the shrimp shack was delicious. dr. w got the lobster roll--fantastic
biking around a town that is five square miles is fun
chief chick went to hershey, pa last week, and brought me an early birthday gift: a 3 lb. bag of twizzlers. many know how much i love twizzlers. this will last me at least three movies (two if broseephus is with me).
greetings from vegas. i'm here for my company's annual conference. as usual, i wasn't that psyched about making the trip, but once i got here, i remembered how sweet it is. staying at THE hotel this year is pretty sweet.
